Red Sox Sign Franklin Morales, Avoiding Arbitration
BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox avoid arbitration with reliever Franklin Morales Monday night.
The team agreed to a one-year, $850,000 contract with Morales, according to the Boston Globe's Peter Abraham, a frequent guest during baseball season on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
The lefty came over to the Red Sox last season after the team claimed him off waivers from the Rockies. He had a 3.69 ERA in 50 games overall, and a 3.62 ERA with Boston.
In 36 games with the Red Sox, Morales struck out 31 over 32.1 innings as the team's primary lefthanded pitcher.
Morales will be 26 at the start of the season.
