BOSTON (CBS) – The New England Patriots got a little help from the Indianapolis Colts last night.

The Houston Texans lost to Colts 19-16 Thursday night, giving the AFC playoff picture a very different look Friday morning.  Here are how the teams stand:

1. Patriots — 11-3
2. Ravens – 10-4
3. Texans — 10-5
4. Broncos — 8-6
5. Steelers — 10-4
6. Jets – 8-6

Now if the Pats tie or beat the Dolphins, they will clinch a first round bye.  They can clinch home field throughout the playoffs with a win and a Pittsburgh loss or tie or a Ravens loss or tie.

To keep it simple, if the Pats win out  they have home field throughout the playoffs.

They had that last year, let’s hope for a better outcome.

Tune in to the Patriots-Dolphins game Saturday, December 24 on 98.5 The Sports Hub and WBZ-TV. Pregame coverage begins at 9:00am on WBZ-TV with Patriots Gameday, with coverage beginning on 98.5 at 10:00am.
