Doc Rivers 'Concerned' About Paul Pierce's Heel Injury

BOSTON (CBS) - Paul Pierce will miss the team's final preseason game on Wednesday against the Raptors with a heel bruise, according to Boston.com.

Pierce, who did not practice Tuesday, also missed Sunday's preseason opener against the Raptors.

"It's a heel bruise, he went real hard yesterday and it just real got real sore so we just want him to rest," Celtics coach Doc Rivers told Boston.com on Tuesday. The problem with that is it will be a lot of rest and he may be ready but with no play, that's scary. It wasn't really a test – he went out and did some one on one work with some of the guys and heel got extremely sore."

The injury has coach Doc Rivers concerned.

"I'm concerned, not long term, I'm concerned short term," Rivers. "We have those two games right off the bat and really he's gone one practice, that's it."

Without Pierce and Jeff Green (heart surgery), the C's are very thin at the wing. Marquis Daniels will likely see increased minutes with Pierce out.
