Business Headlines: Zipcar's Big Move; Holiday Travel Up

BOSTON (CBS) - Cambridge based Zipcar has just exercised an option to buy a majority stake in Avancar, a car sharing service based in Barcelona, Spain.

That's a big step to moving into Europe.

Zipcar already has a hold in the United Kingdom, but no Zipcars are yet operating on the continent itself.

The deal is expected to go through early next year and could be a step in that direction.

HOLIDAY TRAVEL

Closer to home, you might have a lot of company on the roads this season.

AAA is estimating 91.9 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the holidays.

That's up 1.4-percent from last year and they say most people will drive to their destinations.

Only 6-percent plan to fly.

AAA says this is a positive sign that the economy is coming back to life.
