Mass. Inmate's Death Ruled A Homicide

NORFOLK (CBS) – The death of an inmate at a Massachusetts prison is being investigated as a homicide.

Around 4 p.m. Monday, State Police detectives and forensic investigators responded to the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Norfolk after an inmate was reported dead. Due to evidence at the scene, the death has been ruled a homicide.

The victim, Richard Silva, 64, formerly of Lowell, was serving a 9 to 10 year sentence for assaulting a child.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma.

There have been no arrests or charges in the case.
