CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – Three people were shot and killed at a home on Grove Street in Cambridge Friday night.

Police say the three people were fatally shot as part of a domestic altercation. The identities of the victims have not been released, but they are all related.

John Brosnahan, a retired Bedford police officer was wanted in connection with the shooting. His body and car were found in Brighton near the Charles River shortly after 9:30p.m.

WBZ-TV’s Jim Smith reports

He died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found about two miles from where the shootings took place.

A man walking his dog discovered the body and called police.

Brosnahan was employed by the Bedford Police Department from July 1 1972 until January 2, 2000.

WBZ-TV’s Jonathan Elias reports

Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno released a statement saying, “Our concern now is with the Brosnahan family. Such an action, if proven to be true, does not reflect on the fine tradition of the Bedford Police Department.”

    Went on Channel 5 last night and read where there was a disagreement among family members about the care of their elderly mother. Haven’t read or heard much more about that. Can anyone shed some light on this as to why this horrible thing happen ?
