Siblings Arrested For Catalytic Converter Thefts At MBTA Station

DEDHAM (CBS)- A brother and sister have been arrested and charged with stealing catalytic converters from commuters' cars parked at the Dedham Corp. MBTA station.

The Dedham Patch identified the two suspects as Lauren Tremblay, 28 and Barry Tremblay, 22.

Dedham police had seen several instances of catalytic converter thefts in the past month at Dedham Corp station. The thefts were taking place during the day while commuters were at work.

An officer witnessed the tandem of siblings allegedly swiping converters on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

When the Tremblays tried to leave the station on Wednesday, officers pulled them over.

Police recovered three catalytic converters and tools that could be used to cut the car parts.

Catalytic converters sell for anywhere between $80 and $120 at scrap yards.
They cost about $1,000 to replace.
