Sean McAdam: Daniel Bard As A Starter?
BOSTON (CBS) – Toucher & Rich talked with 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Sean McAdam Tuesday at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas.
The big topic for Red Sox fans – will Daniel Bard move into the starting rotation?
“They do have a number of options. They can do one of three things with Bard; they can leave him right where he is in those high leverage setup innings in the seventh and eighth, they can push him into the ninth and have him close or they could stretch him out and have him start. I don’t think a determination has been made, I think a lot is going to be dependent on what they are able to do or not do here in the next couple of weeks,” McAdam said.
One of Bobby Valentine’s first acts as manager was to head to the Domincan Republic and talk with David Ortiz.
What, if anything, came out of that trip?
“I’d be surprised if it doesn’t get worked out with Ortiz. Clearly he wants to finish his career here. I think ownership has a special affection for Ortiz. We’ll know a lot more by tomorrow night,” McAdam said.
Ortiz has until Wednesday to accept or decline arbitration.
