Bruins Thomas Named 1st Star For November

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas has been named the NHL's first star for November.

Thomas did not lose a game during the month, going 9-0 with a 1.76 goals against average and stopping 94-percent of the shots that came his way.

Thomas is just the fourth goaltender in NHL history to win all decisions in a calendar month with at least nine victories, joining Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils (9-0-0 in April 2006), Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers (10-0-0 in March 1975) and Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadiens (9-0-0 in December 1955).

Thomas donned a special "Movember" helmet during the month that he will now raffle off for charity. While it goes to a good cause, he may want to reconsider losing the helmet.

The Bruins went 12-0-1 in November, the first time since 1969 the team did not lose a game in regulation during a calendar month.

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews and Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Joffrey Lupul were named the second and third stars, respectively.
