Man Shot During Attempted Store Robbery In Haverhill

HAVERHILL (CBS) - A man was shot during a botched store robbery in Haverhill Monday night.

Police say the man was visiting with his friend, a store clerk at Esperanza Market on Washington Street, when two masked men tried to hold up the place.

But the two fought back.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Karen Twomey reports

During the struggle, a gun went off and the owner's friend was shot in the leg.

He was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive.

The two men who tried to rob the market took off without any money.

Police are still searching for them.
