BOSTON (AP) — A prosecutor has told a judge that the government expects to bring additional charges against Catherine Greig, the longtime girlfriend of former crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger.

But it is unclear whether they will be brought in Boston, where she and Bulger allegedly fled, or California, where the couple allegedly lived for most of the 16 years Bulger was on the run.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Pirozzolo said in court Tuesday that the issue of “forum” is still being discussed. Greig’s lawyer said that if additional charges are brought in California, that case would likely eventually be combined with the current case against her.

Greig is now charged in Boston with conspiracy to harbor and conceal a fugitive. She and Bulger were arrested in Santa Monica, Calif., in June.

I have a feeling the FEDS will be siezing all of her assetts too. How could she have paid all of her bills while being on the lam for 17 years. If it was with Whitey’s money then it’s all gone.

Does the FBI have a policy deragring tipsters such as this one, or does it depend on how notorious the criminal is as to whether any cares who blew the whistle? As for Anna Bjornsdottir, the notoriety of Whitey Bulger and his place at the top of the FBI’s Most Wanted List made everything around the case of great interest to the media. I think, had she not been an attractive former model and actress (notice the mention of her commercials and roles), they might have only mentioned her name in passing, without all the back story, including photos in CA Iceland, and that would have been the end of it. She apparently made an effort to ignore media efforts to get at her for more story, hoping not to engage them, but they only took that as a challenge. Likely, once Beat the Press discusses it on Friday, her part in the story will go away, unless she gets pulled into a Lynch/Burton investigation on Capitol Hill.
