WELLESLEY (CBS) – Authorities are looking for a man following the sexual assault of a young woman inside a Wellesley home on Monday.

Police said the victim was attacked in a home on Edmunds Road just after 1 p.m.

The suspect, who was armed with a gun, fled the scene on foot. A State Police helicopter was assisting with the search.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Bernice Corpuz reports

The suspect is described as a black man with very little hair, wearing all black clothing and blue gloves.

Police Lt. Marie Cleary says the suspect was let into the home by the victim.

Homeowners in the neighborhood say there have been four break-ins in the area recently.

Unbelievable… If this happened in Lynn or Revere would there be State Police Helicopters involved???

    1. web says:

yes there would, this has happened in other areas, and if guns are involved, state police helicopters are involved.

  2. TruthbeTold says:

There have been “4 break ins in the area” but a young wealthy white girl living in an enormous compound in Wellesley has no security system, and invites in a strange black man wearing all black clothing and gloves who turns out to be OH NO! A gun wielding cat-burgular-rapist! Sounds fishy to me…
If the victim were black they would’ve accused her of being a prostitute and never investigated the claim…

Are you serious??? As a resident of this area (Wellesley/Weston), I can tell you that residents almost never activate security systems while they are in the home. It is extremely rare to have one’s house invaded at gunpoint and to be raped in one’s home. Security systems are typically activated when one is away, and often not even routinely (which may account for the recent break-ins), as people are often accustomed to leaving their doors unlocked in what are generally very low crime neighborhoods. I often open my door for a knock, without considering that there may be a gun-wielding rapist. Once a gun is pointed in your face, game over.

More to the point, what are you suggesting? A young woman has staged a rape, perhaps to stigmatize black men?

Yours comment, as well as those of “Jefferson Davis” and “Just Ice” are as frightening as the crime itself.

I hate to be cynical but something doesn’t add up here for me. I agree with above poster regarding a security system too.

  4. susan says:

Totally agree! There was a sexual assault in around Franklin Park yesterday and there were no helicopters!

  5. Jefferson Davis says:

Negro slaves running amok raping white girls. Wht are you sniveling wimps going to do about it?

  6. Just Ice says:

Ok,let’s take a look at the Obvious,a Black Man wearing all black with blue gloves(Nice Touch) in white neiborhood(Lke a sore thumb) No forced entry and the state sends helicopters and a sarch team, can you say Steward Case, will all Black me with thinnig hair be harrassed until this white Girl is coached to wrongly convict an inocent Man(Black)

  7. Just Ice says:

Sorry for the typo, this Just does not add up,if this really happened, regardless of who did it ,they need to be stopped, i am a father of two young girls but the story just does not fit, time will tell.
    forgive me

I heard about the assaults in Dorchester and Roxbury yesterday – were they carrying guns? This man is (according to the woman) and that will typically generate a helicopter search – no matter what area – if it is safe. I’d think a helicopter search in the city would be a bit difficult given the buildings and places to hide. The suburbs have wooded areas, etc., where the state police dogs and helicopters are used more effectively.

Not sure if this is the reasoning but since no one does know the reasoning it doesn’t make sense to be Monday morning quarterbacks.

The fact that the woman let a person in whom she didn’t know when there had been four other break ins in the area seems odd but than again I have no idea of the actual circumstances.
