BOSTON (CBS) – If you’re driving through Boston Wednesday evening, you might consider taking the Mass Turnpike. It’s free!
The D.O.T. is planning to waive the tolls at three of the most notorious holiday bottlenecks, exits 18, 19 and 20 in Allston-Brighton.
The tolls will be free from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Last year, about 16,000 cars rolled through those tolls between those times on Thanksgiving Eve.
And for those concerned with lost state revenue, there’s no need to worry.
The good souls over at the popular shoe sales website Zappos.com is (yep, we’re going there) footing the bill.
Drivers will still have to stop at the tollbooth or go through the FastLane with their transponders.
