UMass Dartmouth Releases Ex-Law Dean's Credit Card Bills

DARTMOUTH (AP) — The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has released credit card statements that show what purchases former law school dean Robert Ward made before abruptly resigning last month.

The statements released Tuesday, in addition to showing Ward's purchases, reflect "unauthorized" purchases made by another employee.

The 18 months' worth of statements were released at the media's request.

Ward said after resigning that he was stepping down because of a long commute and deteriorating health. He said his resignation had nothing to do with more than $2,200 purchases for personal items he made on school credit cards. He reimbursed the school in full.

The statement did not identify the other employee who made $800 in unauthorized purchases, mostly for items from Amazon.com. A university spokesman says those have been reimbursed too.
