BOSTON (CBS) – A Wayland teenager who had been missing for 12 days was found safe in Jersey City, New Jersey Thursday, police said.
The 13-year-old originally disappeared Nov. 4.
She was last seen on surveillance video that day boarding a bus in South Station heading to the Port Authority terminal in New York City.
“Detectives have spoken with detectives from the New York Police Department Missing Persons Unit, who confirmed that Loftis was located and taken into police custody around 9:00 A.M this morning after police received a tip,” Wayland police said in a statement Thursday.
Police said the “circumstances surrounding her disappearance and activities since she ran away” are still under investigation.
But, sister station WCBS in New York has learned that a 42-year-old man she met online is facing sex charges in connection with her disappearance.
