Red Sox Fire Strength and Conditioning Coach

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox have let go strength and conditioning coach Dave Page, WBZ-TV's Dan Roche has confirmed.

A native of Malden, MA, Page had been with the team since 2006.

Before his stint as Red Sox strength and conditioning coach, he began his baseball career in 1996 with the Portland Sea Dogs (then an affiliate of the Florida Marlins) in the same position. He joined the Diamondbacks in 1998 as their Minor League strength and conditioning coordinator.

The Red Sox conditioning was heavily criticized after the end of the 2011 season, with talk of their starting pitchers being out of shape.

Rumors said Josh Beckett had gained 20-pounds over the course of the season.
