Patriots, Corner Leigh Bodden Part Ways

BOSTON (CBS) - The New England Patriots and cornerback Leigh Bodden have agreed to part ways.

Bodden's agent has confirmed the move first reported by ProFootballTalk.com.

"We don't have any announcements to make right now," Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said when asked about the report on Friday.

When asked to talk about Bodden's performance so far this season, Belichick said he would "skip" that question for now.

Bodden played in five games this season after missing all of 2010 with a shoulder injury. The corner has been thrown at 22 times this season, allowing 12 receptions and deflecting four passes. Of the 12 receptions, one was a touchdown.

Bodden played 222 snaps for the Patriots this season. His release will put more strain on Devin McCourty and Kyle Arrington in the Patriots secondary.
