EVERETT (CBS) – Police are searching for a suspect who stole a vehicle with a 7-year-old girl inside in Everett on Wednesday.

Police said a man stepped out of his vehicle on Broadway in Everett, and moments later, someone stole his car. The man’s daughter was still inside sleeping.

The vehicle was found a few minutes later on Harvard Street in Everett. The child was not hurt, and stayed asleep while the suspect was in the car.

The suspect is still on the loose.

“We’re right now in the process of an active search in that area for that suspect,” said Lt. Richard Gamby of the Everett Police Department.

    What in the hell was he thinking,,, Why would anyone want to leave a child asleep or not in a vehicle running no less, I am so happy the child is safe, But that dad will have guilt in his heart forever,.

    I will be axiously awaiting the accompanying story of Child & Family Services investigating this Father and charging him with neglect, child endangerment and lacking 2 brain cells to rub together. What’s wrong with people???

    Hello macmum, I so agree,,,Oh but some will say ,,, it was an accident, a mistake,, Really,, a mistake is leaving the ice cream out, an accident is throwing a ball and it hit someone in the face, this was truly neglect. The lady being interviewed said it best , NO NO NO,, she is right…. what are people thinking,
