WEST ROXBURY (CBS) – A 14-year-old high school student was arrested by Boston Police Tuesday morning for bringing a loaded gun to school.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Doug Cope reports

Officials said the gun was found in a backpack of a student at the Media Technology High School on the West Roxbury Education Complex campus on VFW Parkway.

The firearm was a Smith & Wesson .38 loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

There are metal detectors at the main entrance, but the student with the gun entered through a side door, officials said.  They added that he was let in by another student to try to evade the metal detectors.

School officials were notified quickly and found him in a bathroom by the side entrance.

The juvenile is being held without bail after prosecutors moved for a dangerousness hearing.

The school is the former West Roxbury High School.

WBZ-TV’s Karen Anderson contributed to this report.

Glad he was caught and I hope he gets a jail sentence

Glad to see those gun laws are working…This kid will get a slap on the wrist and return to the drug/gang culture. When metal detectors are needed at a high school, parenting and society has failed these kids…

  3. gramps says:

The kid who let him in is just as guilty!

Lives were saved today, just by getting the gun off the ‘corridors & street’!

Treat them as ‘Adults’!….That’ll make a few ‘eyeballs click’!

I wonder if this kid drinks 5 or more cans of a sugar drink over the course of a week.

Wonder if his mother is proud of him,, did she pay attention to him ,,, or was he left to fend for him self,,, and they say soda is a cause for anger,,, wonder what this kids excuse will be,,, probably some gang thing,,,,, it always is,,,,

    I know the kid…just got ankle bracelet off on Thursday….what a deterrent!!1

Why wasn’t school put on lockdown? Idiot headmaster didn’t know what was going on….They haven’t used the metal detectors in weeks, but did today….why?

Let’s just see if the mandatory 1-year sentence is imposed.

Expel the student that let him in!
