Children Found Inside Towed Vehicle After OUI Arrest

ATTLEBORO (CBS) – A car with two young children inside was accidentally towed away when their father was arrested for drunk driving.

State Police say a tow truck driver spotted the Mercedes SUV parked in the high speed lane of I-95 South around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning in Attleboro. The car was still running.

Thirty-year-old Fredly Misere of Pawtucket was reportedly asleep in the driver's seat of that car.

The tow driver pulled over and knocked on the window several times before he was able to wake up Misere.

The tow driver told police Misere had a beer bottle between his legs and reeked of alcohol.

The tow truck driver said he was concerned because the section of roadway they were parked on is particularly dangerous.

By the time a State Trooper arrived, he had pulled the car up onto a flatbed.

When the State Trooper did arrive, he noted that Misere had slurred speech, red and glassy eyes, and the odor of alcohol on his breath.

It wasn't until the tow truck driver returned to the tow yard that he heard Misere's 4-year-old and 6-month-old daughters crying in the back seat.

The window glass was heavily tinted and he had not seen them earlier.

He immediately called police.

Around the same time, Misere told police he was concerned about his children and that they were in Boston with a friend, but he could not name that friend.

The children were taken to the hospital as a precaution and their mother was notified.

Misere, who has a previous drunk driving offense, is facing several charges, including child endangerment and operating under the influence.
