BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a college student from Texas is hospitalized in critical condition after falling into the Charles River in Boston.

Police say the 18-year-old was out with friends near the Boston University sailing pavilion around 1 a.m. Sunday when she fell into the river. A friend pulled her out and she was taken by ambulance to Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

State police said the woman is from Houston, but they did not release her name or the college she attends.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports.

She was listed in stable condition at the hospital as of 3:15 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
