Spooky World Founder Puts Collection On Auction Block

SUDBURY (CBS) - His life has been filled with horror, and he wouldn't have it any other way. But it's time to move on.

That's why the founder of Spooky World is selling off some of his old items from the theme park, along with some movie memorabilia.

David Bertolino is the founder of Spooky World. He started giving New Englanders thrills and chills in 1990. He recently sold the business, and you can tell from his frightening collection he's enjoyed his job.

WBZ-TV's Paul Burton reports.

For nearly 20 years, David has been spooking the world with his impressive collectibles. And this weekend it's all going up for sale. Everything from a Chucky doll to original movie posters, and he's not scared to say goodbye.

"It's time to let go, says Bertolino. "Instead of selling it on eBay, I'd rather give it back to my fan base that we've had over the course of 20 years."

David's estate sale on Brewster Street in Sudbury will include 1,200 costumes and more than $100,000 worth of merchandise.

David says he's proud of what he's created but also happy to let it go.
