Child Pulled From Pool In Distress At Fernald Center

WALTHAM (CBS) – State police say a 10-year-old child was pulled from a swimming pool at the Fernald Center in "some state of medical distress" Friday afternoon.

"The child was conscious and has been transported to Children's Hospital," police said in a statement.

There is no other information available at this point.

Fernald describes itself as "the oldest publicly-funded institution serving developmentally disabled people in the United States," according to its web site.
