Bruins Chara Not In Lineup For Preseason Opener

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara returned to practice on Wednesday, but will not expected to play in the team's preseason opener in Ottawa.

Chara took a puck off his left leg on Monday at practice and suffered a contusion. The B's captain has been listed as day-to-day since.

Here are the players expected to play in Wednesday night's preseason opener against the Senators:

Forwards: Jamie Arniel, Patrice Bergeron, Jordan Caron, Chris Clark, Chris Kelly, Jared Knight, Lane MacDermid, Benoit Pouliot, Max Sauve, Tyler Seguin, Ryan Spooner, Jamie Tardif, Shawn Thornton.

Defensemen: Matt Bartkowski, Colby Cohen, Andrew Ference, Dougie Hamilton, Steven Kampfer, Adam McQuaid, David Warsofsky.

Goaltenders: Anton Khudobin, Tuukka Rask.

The Bruins made their first round of cuts, releasing players from camp. Tyler Randell, Yannick Riendeau, Stefan Chaput, Calle Ridderwall and Kyle MacKinnon will all be assigned to Providence, with Anthony Camara returning to his junior team, Saginaw Spirit, in the Ontario Hockey League.
