The Sports Hub Receives Marconi Award For Sports Station Of Year

BOSTON (CBS) - Not only has 98.5 The Sports Hub enjoyed fantastic ratings this year, the station has been named the best sports talk station in the country.

The Sports Hub received the Marconi Award for Sports Station of the Year Thursday night, presented by the National Association of Broadcasters.

"This award is for all of our on-air hosts that do a great job of creating compelling content everyday...because that is what it's all about!" said Sports Hub programming director Mike Thomas.

98.5 The Sports Hub, or WBZ-FM, is the flagship station of the New England Patriots and 2011 Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.

The CBS-owned station has recently dominated the top demographics, and has only been broadcasting for two years, launching on August 13, 2009.

"When 98.5 The Sports Hub launched there was a lot of question in the media if a new sports station could work in Boston," said Fred Toucher, co-host of the Toucher and Rich Show. "It's nice to have all the hard work of everyone here validated by this great award."

The Sports Hub beat finalists from Dallas, Miami, Nashville and Detroit.
