Patriots Fans Warned Of Ticket Scam Ahead Of Sunday's Game

FOXBORO (CBS) - The New England Patriots are warning fans that there's a scam artist out there, selling counterfeit tickets to Sunday's big game against San Diego.

"The tickets that are fake have the word "TICKETMASTER" on them," says Stacey James of the Patriots. "Our tickets, and even Ticketmaster's, don't have that word printed on them," he says.

The fake tickets have been purchased on Craigslist, so the team is warning people, "This is a case of buyer beware," says James, "know the source of your tickets."

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports

Last year, dozens of Patriots fans were ripped off by someone selling fake tickets on Craigslist. And this latest scam involves very authentic looking tickets, except for the word: TICKETMASTER.

WBZ spoke with numerous fans at Gillette Stadium, and none said they would buy tickets off of Craigslist.
