BOSTON (CBS) – One of the good guys on the Patriots is getting paid for his all his good work.

On Friday, linebacker Rob Ninkovich received a two-year extension through the 2013 season.  Ninkovich was on the last year of his deal.  The 27-year old has been a starter in this new 4-3 line up, and has spent the last three seasons in New England.

Ninkovich has recorded all five of his career sacks while with the Patriots, including four in 2010. He totaled 62 tackles in 16 games last season, and recovered three fumbles.

To make room for Mcdonald, the Pats released wide receiver Kerry Taylor from the practice squad.
