SOMERVILLE (CBS) – The original Mount Vernon Restaurant in Somerville is an institution. It has been around for nearly eighty years.
But the restaurants in Lynnfield and Revere just opened in the past several years, and now they are closing.
The owner, Martin Henry, tells WBZ they had to close up because the economy is so bad.

On the Mount Vernon Facebook page, the company thanked customers for their patronage, and said all vouchers and gift cards would be accepted at the Somerville location.
A customer in Somerville was disappointed after hearing the news. He says, “I’ve always liked the food, I’ve always liked the decor in the restaurant, I’ve always felt comfortable and the service is pretty darn quick.”
