Steam Pipe Bridge At Risk Of Collapse In Lynn

LYNN (CBS) - A huge abandoned steam pipe is at risk of collapsing into the Saugus River.

The pipe runs across the river in Lynn, near the GE plant and Route 107.

Part of the structure was knocked loose during the tropical storm on Sunday, and is now leaning to one side.

Local boaters received a message this week from the Coast Guard warning about the structure.

Boaters can pass under it, but were warned about mooring within 50 feet of it.

Engineers are trying to figure out whether to tear down the pipe, or rebuild it.
