Driver Accused Of Covering Up Evidence After Hit And Run Crash

BOSTON (CBS) - An East Boston man is being held on $25,000 bail after answering charges he ran down a Revere woman, then drove off, early Monday.

As he was led into the courtroom, Jon Ravida of East Boston hid his face with a baseball cap, then turned his back on the court as he was arraigned on motor vehicle homicide charges.

He's accused of running down 22-year-old Sotheny Pen of Revere, on Route 1A in Revere, then driving away. Members of both the victim's and the defendant's families were in court.

The prosecutor also accused Ravida of trying to cover-up damage to his SUV by using tools and bleach, then locking the vehicle in his garage.
