Logan Airport Extends Runway To Stop Out Of Control Aircraft
BOSTON (CBS) - Logan Airport is extending its longest runway into Boston Harbor.
The airport is building a new pier that will lengthen the runway by 400 feet.
The extension is designed to slow down and hopefully stop a jet that is out of control.
The project has shut down the runway.
People who live in Winthrop and East Boston will see more air traffic over their neighborhoods.
The project will cost $65 million.
