BOSTON (CBS) – Jacoby Ellsbury was not in the starting lineup in Kansas City Saturday night, a day after he was hit by a pitch.
Ellsbury was hit in the middle of the back by a pitch from Royals reliever Everett Teaford in the eighth inning Friday night.
Ellsbury walked slowly to first base but stayed in the game.
He later scored on Mike Aviles’ RBI double and came out of the game.
According to the Boston Globe, an MRI showed Ellsbury has a contusion, but no structural damage. He’ll likely take a day or two off.
