Cumberland, RI Tops Andover 13-7 To Reach LLWS

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) - Ryan McCormick hit two homers and drove in six runs to power Rhode Island to a 13-7 win over Massachusetts in the Little League New England championship.

The Cumberland American team from Rhode Island advances to the Little League World Series on Aug. 18-28 in Williamsport, Pa.

McCormick had a solo shot and a grand slam in an eight-run first inning. Chris Wright, Max Hanuschak and Jake Glod also homered for Rhode Island.

After the Andover National team from Massachusetts took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, Wright also hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning.

Hanuschak's solo homer in the fourth made it 10-6. After Massachusetts scored a run in the fifth, Rhode Island put it away with three runs in the bottom half. McCormick drove in his sixth run with a sacrifice fly and Glod hit a two-run homer.
