Blind Crew Chief Inspires Kids To Follow Their Dreams
NEWTON (CBS) - Watch him closely; it's hard to tell that Jay Blake is blind.
But Jay not only owns one of the nation's fastest race cars, he's the crew chief.
In 1997, he lost his sight in an accident and came to the Carroll Center For The Blind in Newton for rehab, where they told him to "follow your dream".
WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports
In 1997, Jay was a mechanic. His dream was to own a race car and now he does.
On Thursday, Jay brought his car, and his dream to the Carroll Center to inspire the kids.
They touched the third fastest race car in the country, their hands feeling the cold metal and the rubber. Then, they heard the sound of 3500 horsepower.
Jay Blake knows no boundaries and he passed that along to the kids.
