Two Boston Men Missing After Jumping Into Maine Lake

ANDOVER, Maine (AP) -- Two Boston men who disappeared while swimming in a Maine lake north of Andover have been identified as the search for them resumed Saturday.

Edie Smith from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said Saturday that 26-year-old Hoang Vo and 30-year-old Phil Le were camping with a large group when they decided to go swimming in Lower Richardson Lake on Friday.

She said contrary to initial reports, the men did not jump off a pontoon boat, but were with two other men in a 14-foot boat rented from South Arm Campground. She said a pontoon boat was the first to arrive after the two jumped out of their boat.

Smith said the men had been drinking before they went into the water and alcohol is considered a factor in the incident.

She said nine divers began looking for the two Saturday morning. A ground crew is searching the shoreline and a plane will fly over the area.
