7-Year-Old Nearly Drowns At Shrewsbury Pool

SHREWSBURY (CBS) – A seven-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after nearly drowning at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury on Thursday.

The incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. during a camp for kids.

State Police have taken over the investigation.

The boy was taken to UMass Memorial Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. There is no word on his condition.

WBZ-TV’s Jim Armstrong reports.

Parents tell WBZ-TV that the camp has an impeccable record when it comes to safety.

Camp St. John is for kids age 5-12, and runs until the beginning of August.

    Look at that pool? Do inspectors even LOOK in the water these days to check water quality. That should be sparking, yet it looks FILTHY.

    I’m glad I gave up swimming in public pools years ago (due to getting weird illnesses after).. Gross. I’d never swim in half the pools I see around the state.
