Gresh & Zo With Milan Lucic: Vancouver Poked The Bear With A Stick

BOSTON (CBS) - A few weeks after the Boston Bruins brought the Stanley Cup back to Boston, Milan Lucic joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak. What was the Stanley Cup run like, now that Lucic has been removed for a few weeks? And, at what point during the post season did Lucic feel that his team had a real chance at winning it all?

"I think it was in Game 4 (against Montreal) when Andrew Ference scored that goal to make it 3-2 and we started to claw our way back into that series," said Lucic. "You know when they were up 3-1 in the second period and when he scored that goal to make it 3-2 and then his finger got caught in his glove which is the best part... It happens all the time."

"When he scored that goal I think it showed that our team wasn't willing to give up," the Bruins forward said. "We were going to do everything it took to get ourselves back into it and it just showed the character of our group after that goal and what we were able to do to get ourselves to where we are now."

The guys also discussed the adversity this Bruins team faced over the last year and a half. A notable event was the loss of Marc Savard after a hit by Matt Cooke. Would they have won if they hadn't gone through what they have?

"100-percent, you talk about a year and a half I think it's more than that because you look back at 2008, we lose a Game 7 to Montreal. We're not able to win that one game to get to that next step that we wanted to get to," said Lucic. "Then the next year we get to the second round then we lose to Carolina in Game 7. Then there's that one step that we weren't able to get to. Then we take another step going up 3-0 against the Flyers in the second round and everyone thought that we were going to take that next step. I think it made us stronger as a group because it showed us how much harder we needed to work to make that next step."

Lucic also talked about over the past few weeks, what it has been like to be a Stanley Cup champion in the city of Boston? Also, how does "Looch" feel about the young core of this team?

The guys also talked about Milan's Rock & Jock Softball event to benefit Celebrities for Charity Foundation. It all takes place on Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 at LeLacheur Park, home of the Spinners, in Lowell, MA. For all the info on this event and to purchase tickets visit rockandjocksoftball.org.

98.5 The Sports Hub is the only place to hear every game of the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins 2011-12 NHL season with Dave Goucher and Bob Beers.
