Doc On Sports Final: Claude A 'Made Man Now'

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers is proud to be one of four coaches to bring a championship to Boston in the past six years.

He's really happy Bruins coach Claude Julien has joined the club.

"He's a made man now," Rivers told WBZ-TV's Dan Roche for this Sunday's Sports Final. "I'm thrilled. I just love the team. They were a team. I thought it was a clear difference watching it. I don't care what sport you're in, you know a team when you see a team. And for me, that was cool to watch."

"I'm so happy for Claude," said Rivers. "In a lot of ways, we identify. He went through a lot of stuff obviously. In the first round, a 7-game series; I look at us with the Hawks and a 7-game series. If things didn't go well… We've both been on the firing line, and now he's a Stanley Cup Champion coach. "

"He did it," continued Rivers. "I don't know anything about hockey, but after those first two games in Vancouver, in the first quarter of Game 3, all of a sudden that team changed. It's because of a lot of things, but a lot of it is coaching."

Now that Julien has joined the Boston Championship fraternity, Rivers said all the coaches, Terry Francona, Bill Belichick, Julien and Doc, want to capture a moment together.

"We're going to do a picture at some point. I told all the guys we need to all get together with the rings and trophies and take a picture," he said. "That would be really neat."

He was also a big fan of the Bruins Championship parade, and even a little jealous of it.

"The parade was awesome; really, really neat," said Doc. "We have to get another one of those."
