Red Sox Put Crawford On 15-Day DL

BOSTON (CBS/AP) -- The Boston Red Sox placed left fielder Carl Crawford on the 15-day disabled list before Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Crawford, a top free agent acquisition during the offseason, strained his left hamstring beating out an infield hit in the Sox 10-4 win over the Brewers on Friday night.

"The medical people thought, at best, 10-to-14 days.  That's kind of a no-brainer.  I called him this morning and talked to him.  He gets it," Red Sox manager Terry Francona told reporters Saturday.

Boston recalled outfielder Josh Reddick from Triple-A Pawtucket to take Crawford's place on the roster.

Darnell McDonald, Mike Cameron and Drew Sutton could also see some time in left field, Francona said.

"We'll just piece it together."

Crawford is batting .243 with six homers, 31 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
