Teen Hit By Car On VFW Parkway Dies

WEST ROXBURY (CBS) – A teenager who was hit by a car on the VFW Parkway died early Wednesday morning.

State police say 17-year-old Francis McInerney of West Roxbury was crossing the road with five other young men near Gardner Street just after 10 p.m. when he was struck by a black Acura.

The driver stopped immediately, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

McInerney was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with extensive injuries. He died just before 1 a.m.

Police say it their preliminary investigation shows the driver was not impaired or negligent.

Crash reconstruction experts will determine how fast he was driving.

The driver has not been charged. His name was not released.
