BOSTON (CBS) – Red Sox reliever Hideki Okajima has cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Okajima was designated for assignment last week to make room for newly acquired reliever Franklin Morales. No team made a claim on the 35-year-old lefty.

He had the option to forgo the remainder of his $1.75 mill contract, but elected to head to Pawtucket where he began the season.

Okajima posted a 1-0 record with an ERA of 4.32 with Boston this season, while beginning the year with 5 2/3 scoreless innings in Triple-A.
