Road Service Patrols Helping Stranded Drivers On I-95 In N.H.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire's Department of Transportation is starting "service patrols" on Interstate 95 from Portsmouth to the Massachusetts state line to assist with peak summertime traffic.
The goal is to reduce traffic tie-ups by clearing minor problems such as flat tires, charging a battery or an overheated vehicle as quickly as possible.
Pickup trucks operated by the department's turnpike personnel will make continuous loops between Exit 7 in Portsmouth and Exit 60 in Salisbury, Mass. The patrols, which started Friday, will operate during the early morning and late afternoon hours from Monday through Friday. On weekends, they will be out from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
The pilot project will last three months.
