SALEM (CBS) – A truck crashed into a building on Boston Street in Salem on Thursday.

The truck caused a substantial amount of damage to the two-and-a-half-story home.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens reports.

Resident Tom Goodrich said he originally thought the crash was terror-related.

“Then I came downstairs and saw the window, the new window with the truck inside it, and I realized, ‘OK, now I get it,'” said Goodrich.

Goodrich told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 the driver was trying to avoid rearending a car when his foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator.

Fire officials said the driver was transported to a local hospital. No serious injuries were reported.

    Used to be “drive defensivley”. Now, with all these vehicles crashing into buildings, it’s “live defensively”. What the #$%& is going on? Not even safe in your own home anymore.

    Driving down 93 in the far right lane having a Mac truck tailgate me for 10 minutes I am not surprised. Best way to avoid rear end accidents…. leave some space and give drivers the respect that we all deserve,

    ok SLIPPED…. yeah try that again ,, more like was tailgating to close and was probably doing something he shouldnt have… NOT GOING TO SAY IT.. I might get told about it……… RING RING…………………… ITS FOR YOU ………… if you get my drift. Why are we seeing more and more of these kind of crashes.. Folks need to pay the hell attention to what they are doing………..
