Several Pets Killed In Fire At Pembroke, NH Kennel

PEMBROKE, NH (CBS) – A fire inside a Pembroke, New Hampshire kennel killed 15 dogs and two cats early Thursday morning.

The fire broke out inside the boarding kennel at Hemlock Hill Farm.

The fire department says, by the time they arrived, the building was engulfed by flames, and there was no way to save the animals.

The kennel’s owner said all of her records were destroyed in the fire. She has no way of getting in touch with the owners.

As of Thursday, a number of owners had no idea their pets had died.  Many were believed to still be on vacation.

Investigators think the fire was accidental. They suspect a ventilation fan may have sparked the fire.

AN UPDATE TO THE FIRE: The owner was successful yesterday in notifying all the owners, this was her first priority and she spent the day notifying and talking with the owners. The animals and their owners were her only focus and she did everything she needed to do to contact everyone involved in this tragedy. These animals meant the world to her and she is devastated by this tragic loss!!!!!!

We are heartsick for Paulette. Of course the owners were her first priority. This was her life. I hope she will rebuild and continue her wonderful work. We are behind her and praying for her.
