Lucky Fans Get Tickets From Neely, Pedroia

BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox and Bruins tickets are a hot commodity in Boston these days.

Who would have thought getting some would be as easy as walking into a Dunkin' Donuts?

On Tuesday morning, everyone in the Washington Street Dunkin' Donuts on Boston Common was surprised by Bruins President Cam Neely and Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who handed out tickets to an upcoming Red Sox game or Bruins playoff game against the Montreal Canadiens.

It was all part of Dunkin' Donuts "Caught Cold" campaign, which has given out over 800 tickets since it started back in October 2010.

Michael Mahon, Manager of Field Marketing for Dunkin' Donuts in Boston, says the promotion is a way to help make going to games and concerts accessible for everyone, while celebrating the local popularity of Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee.

"At Dunkin' Donuts, we are rewarding our core iced coffee drinkers with something they want," Mahon said. "Boston is a sports and music city and Boston runs on Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee so it's our way to recognize and surprise our loyal guests."

Following the early success of the "Caught Cold" campaign, Bruins and Celtics giveaways will continue through the playoffs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively.  During the Red Sox season, tickets will be given out every Wednesday. On select Fridays, tickets to the hottest Boston concerts will be given out.
