Curious About Obama

Every time I see President Obama, he seems to tower over all around him, how tall is he ?  - Vinnie, Wilkinsonville

The President is 6' 1" which ties him for 10th when it comes to the tallest Presidents in U.S. history.  The tallest was Abe Lincoln at 6'4".

Some people believe there's a link between height and success in politics, and that the taller candidate usually wins.  Looking back, the taller guy won a little more than half the time....still...a win is a win.   It was true last time around.  Mr. Obama is taller than his 2008 opponent Sen. McCain.  However, George W. Bush was elected twice and each time he faced a taller man.

In case you're wondering, James Madison was the shortest President at 5'4."

Do physical characteristics matter to you when you're choosing who to vote for?
