Major Heroin Bust On The Cape

FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - Federal, state and local law enforcement officials say they have arrested 27 people and broken up a cocaine and heroin distribution ring that operated on Cape Cod.

Police arrested the suspects in a series of raids across the Cape on Thursday, also seizing two kilograms of cocaine, worth about $100,000; 330 grams of heroin with a street value of $30,000; $75,000 in cash; and several cars and a boat.

The arrests were the result of a three-year investigation in which authorities monitored hundreds of phone calls of the alleged distributors of the drugs.

Authorities say the drugs were sometimes hidden inside toys or food sent through the mail.

All the suspects face either federal or state drug charges.
