Power Restored After A Cold Day For NH Residents

DERRY, NH (CBS) - Ed Stonefield woke up to a loud crashing noise. "Crack, like a big firecrackers," he desribes. It was no April Fools joke, but a tree bringing down the power lines to his home. "All of the sudden, bang, it came down because of the weight of the snow."

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports from Derry, NH

Ed couldn't get out of his garage until PSNH crews came to fix the line. They were spread across the state, working to restore power to more than 25-thousand homes and businesses. By 6 pm, they had restored power to all but 15-hundred customers. PSNH says everyone will be back on line by Saturday morning.

The snow also blanketed the Hoodkroft Country Club in Derry. The Golf Pro Rich Berberian said this was supposed to be opening day. He says it will be tough on business, but is looking forward to warmer weather. "The snow doesn't last that long this time of year and in two or three days it will be gone and hopefully we'll be back in operation again."
