Adrian Gonzalez: Boston's New Cover Boy

BOSTON (CBS) - Adrian Gonzalez has found himself the center of attention before even taking the field for the first time as a member of the Red Sox.

Now he finds himself the newest Red Sox cover boy.

Gonzalez graces the cover of the new edition of The Improper Bostonian, with a feature written by 98.5 The Sports Hub's Tony Massarotti.

Did you know Gonzalez regards Manny Ramirez as a role model and the best hitter in baseball?

Gonzalez looks to join a long line of left-handed hitters to succeed in Fenway Park, with 11 of the top 15 home batting averages in team history coming from the left side of the plate. Fenway raised Troy O'Leary's batting average from .251 (on the road) to .304 (at Fenway), imagine what it can do for Gonzalez.

The transition from San Diego to Boston will stretch much further than just a new, hitter-friendly ballpark. Gonzalez will now be in the middle of a fan base that analyzes (and over-analyzes) every move by the team and it's players, in addition to playing in front of a sell-out crowd every night.

"Everybody tells me you've got to be comfortable with the attention and what comes with it," Gonzalez said to Massarotti in the article. "There's definitely passion everywhere you go, but that's something that's going to be exciting for me to be a part of, especially this year."
