BOSTON (CBS) – MBTA passengers jumped into action to save a stranger who fell onto the tracks on Wednesday.

Surveillance video shows the man standing on the edge of the platform at North Station at around 3 p.m. He then falls right onto the tracks just moments before an Orange Line train pulled into the station.

WBZ-TV’s Jonathan Elias reports.

Passengers rushed to get the man back on the platform.

He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

is it just me or does this seem to happen at least once a year now?

This is the third time in one year that a drunken fool has taken a header onto the tracks in Boston. Say what you want but I would leave them there. What’s next, a fence with a gate so a few idiots won’t fall on the tracks?

I agree with jaygee – drunk or clumsy people deserve to die horribly. And anyone foolish enough to be driving a subway train for a living absolutely deserves to live with the memory of being part of such an event!

You go jaygee! Tell it like you see it!

Many years ago, my father, who was going blind, fell onto the train tracks-he missed the edge of the platform (there were no raised dots on the edge then). Thankfully, he was helped back up by some wonderful people who jumped down to get him back up onto the platform. He just missed the third rail. So, to those of you who say let whomever falls in to the pit stay there to meet their fate, just think that perhaps that is a human being who deserves to be saved.

Christine, I don’t believe that you watched the video. Of course we should help in certain situations but why should an innocent person risk their life to save some nitwit who wants to drink or do drugs all day and then, thru their own negligence, FALL ONTO TRAIN TRACKS where a 3rd rail can kill them?

Shame on all of you! If that was you who fell off the platform and no one helped you, you’d be crying for the heads of all the bystanders who did nothing, provided you survied by some miracle of God.
God bless those who rescued the man and may he have mercy on your EVIL, judgemental souls!!!!!!
